Feeling Better!

Riley and Ryan spent most of last week at home with the sniffles and fever. It started with Ryan being sent home on Monday with a fever and then Riley on Tuesday. I took Ryan to the doctor on Tuesday morning and after a trip to the pharmacy and then meeting Grandma at home, I was off to the office. Just as I was turning in, I got the call to come pick up Riley (who didn't have any fever before school that morning). So I headed straight to pick her up and then back to the doctor and back to the pharmacy. It was like groundhog day! Kevin stayed home with them on Wednesday and back to school on Thursday and Friday. They are definitely feeling much better after battling the sniffles and cough for almost 4 weeks. I had a million things to do on Saturday, so they spent most of the day with Dad. As you see in the photo - they took their first ride in the grocery cart together. Then we headed off to Colleen Ware's graduation party. She just graduated from UGA (War Eagle!) and we are officially old. We used to "babysit" Colleen, John, Allie and Meghan when they were younger and now the oldest is a college graduate. Yikes! Allie & Meghan are twins, so you'll see a few shots of the twins holding the twins.

Today was a visit to The Varsity to meet Grandma and her college roommate, Betsy, for lunch. We had a nice time being loved on by two proud Grandmas! After lunch they took a 2 1/2 hour nap, so I guess they are still catching up on some rest from being sick. We hope to have a few non-eventful weeks. Kevin is traveling this week and I will be gone next week. Riley and Ryan are going to Grandma and Grandaddy's house for their first overnight visit for both of them without us this Friday. We hope it goes well, so they will be invited back! :)

Mother's Day Weekend

This weekend we had a lot of time just hanging out together, which was very nice. We started the weekend with a quiet night at home. It's been beautiful weather, so we went for a quick walk and then sat on the front porch in the rocking chairs before bed time. On Saturday, we worked around the house all weekend trying to continue to baby proof. We realize that mobility will be here before we know it, so we're trying to take care of things a little each day, so we are not blind-sided once that day arrives. I know, we'll never fully be prepared, but it's worth a shot to at least try, right? Riley and Ryan are now both fully sitting up on their own - didn't fall over at all this weekend. With that milestone, as well as Ryan just about at the weight and height limit for the infant car seats, we figured it was time to move them to their big boy/girl seats. You would have laughed watching Kevin and I figure out how to get them installed correctly. We had to take a few deep breaths, but we figured it out...and once you know, it's not all that difficult. They love their new seats and enjoy the extra room as well as the ability to now see out the windows. Ryan just gazes out the window all the time. Their first trip in these seats was to the high school girls lacrosse state championship game. The twin girls we used to "babysit" were playing as sophomores for Milton and they won their 4th straight title. They just so happened to be playing Westminster - the team that my boss' daughter plays on, so we had to split our cheering when Allie and Anna were both playing. Riley loved the game and all the excitement. Ryan wasn't so sure about the loud cheering, but he eventually got used to it.

Today was a very nice Mother's Day. It started with church, then home for a quick nap (mom included!) and then off to brunch with Grandma. Riley and Ryan both sat in the restaurant high chairs for the first time. Ryan did great, but Riley wasn't so sure about it, so she ended up in her carrier, but a nice time was had by all. We had a nice afternoon just hanging out with Grandma back at our house. Grandaddy is in Moldova on a mission trip, so we missed him today.

Sitting Pretty!

Riley and Ryan have reached a new milestone! They are officially sitting up on their own. Ryan has a little more strength and stamina than his sister, but they are both blossoming before our eyes. Check out the video below (as well as a few other video links here: http://picasaweb.google.com/hutchinson.heidi/20080507VideoClipsSittingUp)

We've all been battling different sicknesses, but hopefully we are on the home stretch! Kevin had an allergic reaction in his eye that made him look like a monster and I've been dealing with a sinus infection. Riley and Ryan have also had the sniffles, but we went to the doctor yesterday and they got a clean bill of health. I bet a new tooth pops up any day now...the signs are all appearing and the drooling just won't stop. We had the house baby-proofed this weekend, so we are as ready as we're going to be for the moment they become mobile. Please say a prayer for our sanity once that starts!
