Bubble Fun!

We had so much fun this weekend playing with bubbles! I have been thinking about bubbles a lot since last summer since I tried to buy all kinds of fun stuff for their birthday and quickly learned that no one sells bubbles in October. So... I stocked up and we have had so much fun playing with all the bubble stuff I got. Ryan especially loves them and cries real tears when we stop. To give you an idea of just how many bubbles we witnessed in 2 days...I used up an entire bottle of bubbles in 2 play times ! Bubbles bubbles and more bubbles!

I also bought a water table at the end of the Summer last year and brought it out this week and we have already gotten our money's worth on that one. They love splashing around and have learned that when you press the button on the light house it makes lots of fun beach sounds, but more importantly it makes the octopus spray water! They just giggle and laugh each and every time it sprays. They each had tons of fun putting their face and head in it and I think they enjoyed watching each other as much as doing it themselves.

We had the Great Race at school on Saturday morning and Riley amazed us once again. As soon as we got there she took off on her car and never looked back. She was fast and accurate. I had several strangers ask me how old she was and where she got all that energy. I think she amazed us all. Ryan forgot how to use his legs and much prefered us to push him rather than peddling along himself. That killed our backs, so he was finally happy to sit on the blanket and eat grapes. Definitely opposite ends of the spectrum!

After the race and nap, we headed to Gramma's house for lots more fun. We played in the water there with the fishing poles Gramma bought them. They weren't quite ready for those, but they did love the frozen bananas she had for them! She even let them dip them in chocolate! They were big helpers and helped Grandaddy pick up some weeds in the yard and put them in the bucket. After some more bubble time, dinner and bath, it was time to head back home and head straight to bed after a very busy and delightful day!

A few funny moments to remember from this week:
We got a note from Riley's teacher on Friday that "Ms. Riley was the teacher today during circle time". So - I had to ask about this...does everyone take a turn? and they quickly laughed and said oh no - Riley just stood up and started leading the songs. It cracked them up as well as us! Riley was at the doctor on Thursday and had the beginning stages of an ear infection and something in her chest so we started some antibiotics that night. I think she felt so much better by Friday morning and she needed to "lead"!

When we were at Gramma's we were trying on some shoes she had gotten for Ryan and he liked the first pair. He looked at them and walked all around. When we tried on the second pair, he was hesitant and seemed a little upset. I asked him if he liked the shoes and he said "no"! Then I asked him if he liked the other ones better he gave a very quick "yes"! I'm not sure if he really understood all he was saying, but he let us know that pair #1 got his vote (and mine too)!

Riley has learned how to pronounce Ryan's name and says it quite frequently. She's always calling out to him and says his name about 10 times an hour. It's so cute to see how much she loves her brother!

They will be moving up to their new class on May 18th! Early Preschool 1 (EPS1)

Fun with Photography

I just snapped a few photos tonight after dinner and had so much fun playing around with them in Picasa. Take a look at the link below and let me know whatcha think. I think some of them turned out pretty well considering I didn't really have a plan for doing this tonight. Enjoy!

PJ's from China and Weeds

Grandaddy stopped by the other night and we decided to surprise him and put Riley and Ryan in the PJ's he brought them back from his trip to China last summer. When I got them out I was worried they might be too small, but they fit them perfectly! They looked so cute and he was pleasantly surprised! Riley wasn't into the pictures very much, but we have now learned why she has been so temperamental lately. She has 3 teeth that have broken through her gums and another molar looks like it's about to come through. I'd be cranky too!

I got home a little early today and ended up pulling some weeds in the yard. With all the rain they have just shot up and I have a hard time walking by weeds without pulling them. I was still in my suit from work, but couldn't resist! Riley and Ryan loved playing in the yard with me and Riley even "pulled" a few weeds. She loves doing what I do. She only once brought me a piece of dried up poop from Sable and Sam. She was so proud to give it to me that I just had to giggle and wonder if anyone was watching this scene unfold. I know - Mother of the year! :) Later on, it was Ryan I found with the dog's nail clippers in his mouth. Not just the clippers, but the tip of the clippers that actually do the cutting luckily they were closed, so it wasn't sharp. Just moments before I had asked them to put them back on the table since they were not supposed to play with them and they quickly followed directions. I praised them and told them how proud I was of them for listening to me and then I look up to see him sucking on them. Wow! Eventful afternoon - just thought I tell on myself.

Vacation 2009

We left last Saturday for our much anticipated vacation and had a fantastic week! We cruised through the Eastern Caribbean and had perfect weather. We rested a lot, played a lot and ate great food. I got burned fairly badly on Tuesday, so I spent most of the rest of the week searching for shade, but it was fabulous anyway! I read 2 books that I've been trying for finish for the last year (sad isn't it?)! I was rested and relaxed until...today. Trying to play catch up is not fun at all. I'm not even back at work and am totally exhausted. I unpacked our bags, did a million loads of laundry and got most everything folded or hung - still not put away. I also spent 4 hours in the car today getting Aunt Heather to the airport and then trying to take Riley & Ryan to school. There were terrible winds here that made a LOT of trees fall. Buckhead looks like a war zone and almost every street I attempted to travel was closed with downed power lines or trees. I didn't accomplish near what I needed to today, but will try again tomorrow. I'm tired and want to savor one last night before I go back to my regular routine in the morning!

Aunt Heather came from California to watch the kiddos with Gramma and Grandaddy. I think they had a great week! I know the kids enjoyed the extra time with them. They even learned a few new tricks this week. Boy were we glad to see them when we got home yesterday!

Here are some photos from our vacation. Riley & Ryan had their photos taken with a live bunny in Washington, GA below is the link to some shots taken after the photographer got his shots. Also included is the link to the photos from Gramma of their (Gramma, Grandaddy & Aunt Heather) time with kids last week while they let us play!

18 Month Check Up

Riley and Ryan had their 18 month check up 2 days ago and all is well! They are right where they need to be developmentally. She asked a few questions to check their "milestones" and they are right on track.

They are using a spoon (to some degree).
They can get up the stairs (not down).
They know at least 5-10 words.
They are not only walking but running (Ryan isn't really running yet, but he's a fast walker).
They recognize and point to objects in books like "ball", "dog".
They understand "No". :)

Here are the stats:
Ryan
Height 32.5" (50th%)
Weight 29.6 pounds (90th%)
Head 19.625" (95th%)

Riley
Height 31.75" (55th%)
Weight 23.1 pounds (30th%)
Head 18.25" (40th%)

In summary - Ryan's weight is still high (not too high) and his head is still big, but he is slowing down on the height side. Riley made a big spike in her weight at 15 months, so she is back to being more in line with her growth curve with her current weight. Her height is also slowing down, but she is catching up with Ryan!
