Dogs & Cats

Today is my first baby's 7th birthday! Yes – my first baby, our dog Sable, was born on this day 7 years ago! While she still might be my most challenging, she is a very special and smart dog with lots of love and energy! I’m thankful she found her way to our home! I’m hoping we can have a birthday celebration tonight complete with cupcakes for everyone!

On another note, I wanted to have a record of this. Last night we were over at the Talberts house eating dinner and playing. After a while, Riley said “what’s that mom?” and she was pointing at something. When I saw what it was it was their cat! I don’t think she’s ever been that close to a real cat before. It’s remarkable to me that with all the things they’ve been exposed to that she has never seen one up close and personal. Once I told her it was a cat, she knew that cats say “meow”, but she had never seen one like that before (their cats are long hair so they look even a little different than what they’ve seen in books). To take this story one step further…we were looking for Eliza’s “purple cup”, so I asked Riley and Ryan to help us search for it. They thought I said “purple cat” (I’m thinking like the one in the book 'brown bear'), so they were running all over looking for the “purple cat”. I had to giggle when they kept saying it!
