Can we call you?

I wrote this post on Friday before I left for California, but unfortunately, my hard drive crashed on the plane, so it’s been a fun weekend of restoring my laptop…

I know I’m so far overdue to post – and have so many things to catch up on the blog. I can’t wait to post a bunch of fun photos! Possibly even this weekend? I’m headed to the West coast for my first of 4 conferences over the next 4 months. Busy season for me has officially begun! I will spend the weekend with Heather & Brad in LA and then head to San Francisco on Monday for my conference. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend before the hustle and bustle begins!

So - - last night at dinner Kevin and I were “prepping” the kids for my time away.

…Mommy is going on an airplane

…Mommy will see Aunt Heather and Uncle Brad this weekend

…Mommy is going to miss you SO much

…I want you to be big kids and help Daddy. Be extra nice to each other and be good listeners.

…Will you Skype with me from Aunt Heather’s house?

You know the drill… As a result of those phrases, these are the questions that were raised:

Ryan: Yes! I want to talk to you on the computer. Can we do it now?

Me: Well, not right now. Mommy has to go on the plane first and then go to Aunt Heather’s house. I’m not leaving until tomorrow.

Ryan: Can we talk to you while you’re on the plane?

Me: I won’t be able to talk while I’m on the plane, but I can talk to you after the plane lands.

Riley: Can we call you?

Me: Yes! You can ask Daddy to call me anytime you want to talk.

Ryan: I want to call you now

You see where his mind is…

Riley: Are you coming back?

She didn’t seem as concerned as I would hope she would be if she thought I wasn’t coming back, but of course, I said I would be back and couldn’t wait to see them next week!

Riley: Mommy, I can come with you! Batting her eye lashes along with a huge smile!

Me: Well, after I see Aunt Heather and Uncle Brad, I will have to work and I’m sorry that you won’t be able help me work.

Riley: without any hesitation Mommy, yes I can! I can be extra quiet! followed by a great laugh by all.

Obviously, lots to talk about last night…

When I was tucking Ryan in last night (several hours after dinner), he had one last question…

Ryan: Mommy, will you hurry up and get on the plane so we can call you?

Happy Days for sure.

Update....

We were able to skype with the kiddos today and it was great to see them and talk to them. They have been great for Daddy this weekend and that makes me so proud! Riley was full of funny faces...Riley's latest "thing".
