Digging up Potatoes in Blairsville

July 2-3, 2011
I grew up going to visit Aunt Dot and Uncle Paul at their house in Blairsville.  I have such fond memories of our time there – usually in the Fall for the Sorghum Festival.  This time we were there for the official harvesting of the potatoes with Aunt Dot and Pam!  I did this as a little girl with my Bluebird troop, so it was such fun to now see Riley & Ryan digging in the dirt at Aunt Dot’s.  It was a great weekend complete with bubbles, s’mores, feeding the cows, and a picnic at Vogel State Park.  What a treat!

After our visit to Blairsville, we headed home so Kevin could run in the Peachtree Road Race on the morning of the 4th of July.  We made the early trek to my office to watch him run by and give him water.  Every year his start time gets earlier and earlier.  I’m hoping he gets a number in the back next year!

After the race, it was back to our neighborhood for the annual parade and then a cookout at our house.  Unfortunately the rain put a damper on the fireworks, but we watched them on tv on the porch and even saw some in the distance from our house!  I think the kiddos were just as happy hanging out with us on the porch in the rain!  It was a surprisingly fun end to a fantastic weekend!
