Whew! The Easter Bunny visited our house in grand style this weekend! We have participated in 3 egg hunts and had a perfect weekend. The hunt at Chastain Park was a little disappointing since there were a zillion people there and Riley and Ryan each only got one egg. No joke – ALL of the eggs were snatched up in 2.2 seconds. It was a mob scene. Ryan’s egg had nothing in it and the disappointment in his eyes was heartbreaking. We were able to find another one that had a treat in it, so he was ultimately happy. All he cared about was the “candy” in the eggs. The Easter Bunny was definitely confused and thought he was Santa Claus. There were so many fun new spring toys! The kiddos had a blast with all the new loot. I think they ate their weight in candy and Ryan was determined to open each and every egg before he put them in the basket. Thankfully there were a lot more eggs for the neighborhood hunt so there was enough time to open and hunt. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend. The weather could not have been more perfect. All in all, it could be one of my all time favorite weekends with the kids. As I said to my mom on Sunday – we are just having so much fun! I’ve heard of the terrible 2’s and as of tomorrow we are half-way through that year. (can you believe they are officially 2 1/2??) So far so good! They are a delight to be around and are so full of life it’s inspiring. Since I’m the mom, it’s ok to say that, right? I might have just jinxed the “2’s”, but I am just so proud of the little people they are! Ok – enough. Here are the highlights…
Easter Egg Hunt – Chastain Park
“Tight Squeeze” – these are the best hugs, but you better take them when they are offered!
Riley was very “into” her Daddy this weekend!
These were the eggs that disappeared in a split second
Eagerly awaiting the hunt at Chastain
SO excited that we found an egg with “candy” in it!
The Easter Bunny left paw prints leading from the front door to the baskets! In Riley’s words, “the Easter Bunny made a mess”!
The Easter Bunny was definitely confused – thought it was Christmas!
Riley went straight for her new baby doll and Ryan went straight for the new basketball goal. Tonight they took each to bed with them. Yes – Ryan is sleeping with a basketball!
We has special shaped cinnamon raisin toast and pineapple for breakfast
All dolled up – ready for church! We had a “moment” on the way home from church. When I asked them what they did at church (as I do every other Sunday), Ryan responded, “talked about Jesus”. Wow! That’s the first time either of them said something like that! Usually my answer is “ate gold fish and cheerios”. We’ve come a long way!!!
Learning to hit the ball off the tee
obsessed with the new bubble machine
Mee Maw had a “project” for the kiddos. Mini skewers for lunch. They were able to put tomatoes, pickles, olives and cheese on toothpicks! Yes – they were very proud of themselves.
