February Fun

There have been more times with great friends lately.  We were able to have Grace & Lawson over for a play date.  They are twins that have been in Riley & Ryan’s class for a few years.  They recently moved up to a new class and boy do they miss each other.  Since their birthday is in July and Riley & Ryan’s is in October, they will be in different grades in school, so this separation was inevitable.  We are looking forward to more spring days so they can play together on the playground at school.

We gave Riley and Ryan tickets to the circus for Valentine’s Day.  I was so excited to see how they would react to the circus this year compared to last.  We got there early enough to go down on the floor and see some of the circus performers up close and personal!  Although they loved to see the clowns, they certainly did not want their picture taken with them.

They were on the edge of their seats (most) of the show.  They ate popcorn, dippin dots and pretzels!  They clapped and reacted with such enthusiasm.  It was a joy to watch!

The only sad part of the day was when we were leaving and Ryan wanted one of the “lights” they sell as souvenirs.   I’m all about giving them memorabilia, but at $22 each (and you know we’d be buying 2), I wasn’t so excited about buying these on the way out the door after the show was over.  He burst into tears and looked me straight in the eye with the saddest face.  “But Mommy, I was so good.  Can I please have a light?”  He was right.  It wasn’t his fault those people were cruel enough to tempt every single child as they left a wonderful experience.  I felt terrible, but I didn’t give in.  I knew this “moment” would pass, but I hated that it had to end the way it did.  Like I thought, he was over it in a few minutes and the lights have never again been mentioned.  Whew…

We met Mee Maw at the park in downtown Lilburn for a picnic and some play time.  We thought it was going to be a nice spring day, but it turned out to be windy and quite cool.  The kiddos didn’t care since they were running ar0und having fun!

As you can tell from most trips to the park, Riley is a little obsessed with dirt, sand, rocks…anything she can get her hands in and “collect”.  I wonder if this means she’ll be a master gardener one day?  The sand has been purchased and is ready to go for the sand box at home.  I know she will be happy when it’s warm enough to play in it as often as she can!

Avery and Margaret came over one Friday night to celebrate their mom, Joy, passing her big exam for work!  We had a fun night of dressup and play time.
